The goal of this International Roadmap Session is to attract a maximum of meaningful contributions from around the world to share not only experiences, but also develop real collaborations through expertise exchange - all of this on every level (technical, leadership, classroom). The "outcome" of the Thursday Roadmap session will be a "Blueprint" for large-scale deployments that will list the process by which organizations can explore large-scale systems and deploy them successfully.
Who is going to be there ?
- Large Scale Open Source backend infrastructure , thin clients, and Desktop deployment from (some are to be confirmed)

- US participants will include Indiana, Atlanta, Georgia, and many other US leaders
Proposed Outcomes
- How to lead - teachers and administrator who "want" to use Open Source
- How to manage the budget side of a large scale implementation
- How to leverage learning opportunities for students - in schools and at home?
- How to design a "scalable" implementation from an educational point of view (training, usage, etc.)
- How to start small and then scale to large
Schedule for Roadmap Session
- 9:00 - 10:30 AM: Introduction
- Presentations of people in the group (15 seconds, who, where, put you on the world map) (30 min)
- What is large scale ? What are the caracteristics of it ? (15 min)
- 5 min presentation of Large Scale examples from selected projects (45 min) (Questions from Group)
- 10:30 - 10:45: Break
- 10:45 - 12:00 AM : Workshop in small team of expertise (Technology, Leadership/Policies , Curriculum/Classroom)

- Advantages (Cost, Management Personnel, meeting needs of teachers/students)
- 13:00 - 15:00 PM: Split into group interest
- Compile DRAFT Roadmap (Education/Leadership/Technical)
- 15:00 - 16:30 PM : Design of a Roadmap on how to have a successful Open Source large scale project
- Groups come together and compile work product
The final DRAFT of the Roadmap will be posted on the conference site for continued editing and review. It will be published after it is finalized. Monographs of individual countries/schools/geographic areas will be included in the final published document.
